Oh, baby!

It's been a long time since our family has had a baby in our midst, so I was excited to prepare cookies to share at my nephew, Bill, and his partner, Amy's baby shower.

Grandma Rita wanted to add some "bling" to balance the dark wood tables at the venue, so "rose gold" coloring was the challenge for this set of cookies.  So much love went into preparing for this special event.  Rita made table runners, a special diaper cake, and baked dozens of cookies.  Bill's sisters and nieces prepared the invitations and decorations.  "It takes a village" is how our family functions.

Grandma opted to have a sweet table filled with a variety of cookies.  I "specialize" in frosted sugar cookies, but my sister, Rita, is the real baker in the family.

Bill managed to handle being the only man in a room full of women!  Amy and Bill are pictured here with nieces, Leann and Mary Grace,  Bill's sisters,  Heather and Jody, and the Grandmas "to be."

Can't wait to "shower" baby Avery with special cookies in the future.

Oooh, Baby!

Baby cookies from cutters that I have never used before.  The one on the right was intended to be a snowman cutter until a friend suggested that it would make a cute baby face!

Pink Baby Shower

A simple set of baby onesies in pink and white for baby shower favors.  I decided to try making some RI transfers to use as flower embellishments, but I decided that I didn't like the deep coral color with the soft baby pink.  Sometimes less is more.

Ooops, the piping line broke so I added a few dots to fill in the space.

Every flower looks different, but that's the way they look in nature, right?  The color was a deep coral, not quite as red as they appear in this photo.  I definitely need some practice if I want to stop buying pre-made flowers and use my own.
