Shiver Me Timbers! It's Kyle's Graduation

Great-nephew, Kyle, is graduating from 8th grade today.

Since our family is big on tradition, his cookie collection had to include at least one "look out ______ high school" book cookie and a diploma tied with a heat-shaped ribbon.

However, for the rest of his collection, I opted to go the less traditional route and used his elementary school mascot as my inspiration for a "pirate theme" to celebrate Kyle's special day.

Treasures await  .  .  .

Kyle has successfully voyaged from his home of "McK" island to the Emmons Elementary "island",  now it is time to venture on to the new "island" of high school.

Love, hugs, cookies,
and
safe travel,
on your new adventure.

The "Glamathlete" Graduates Today

When my Great-niece, Kendall, turned 16, I nicknamed her the "glamathlete" and chose "The Places You'll Go" as the theme for her cookies.  Two years later and she is still on the move.

Today is the day to honor Kendall's commencement with school traditions  .  .  . caps, diplomas, and the Grayslake North Knight.

Today is the day to respect Kendall's dedication to the sports that she loves.

Today is the day to congratulate Kendall on her accomplishments.

Today is the day to take pride in this amazing young woman who is on her way to new adventures at the University of Missouri at St. Louis.

100 Years Young

Did you ever meet someone and know from that very first conversation that you were going to be great friends?  That's what happened when I met Ray. . .  my co-worker, my mentor, my friend.  Ray's life was brief but he touched the hearts of many.

Since Ray's passing,  I have tried to keep in touch with his family and his Dad and I have been "pen pals."  Mr C's hearing is not very good, so I write rather than call and send cookies when I can.

This weekend, Matt and I traveled to Ohio to attend his 100th birthday celebration.

Many friends and family gathered for this special event and we were treated to a wonderful memoir of his life.  Mr. C told many tales, daughter Sarah took notes, and Grand-Daughter, Katie, designed the book. Here are just a few of the memorable photos that illustrated the story of his life.

Want to live to be 100?  Here is Mr. C's advice,  "I credit my big breakfast and my exercise bike for my still being here.  I now time myself and I go on the bike for 15 minutes, three times a day."

Congratulations on this amazing milestone.  May your special day be filled with sunshine, smiles, laughter and love.
